2015 Retiree Healthcare News
The City of Chicago previously mailed out letters explaining the changes to the retiree healthcare benefits effective January 2015. Non-Medicare retirees had the opportunity to opt out of the current plan by enrolling in a different plan to better meet their needs for provider access, out-of-pocket expenses and premium costs. Medicare eligible retirees remained in the same plan. The cost of the City Insurance is reflected under "Deductions" on your earnings statement. Information regarding the healthcare changes can be found on the City of Chicago website or by calling the City's Benefits Service Center at 1-877-299-5111. Should you wish to cancel your retiree healthcare insurance, you will need to submit a written request to the LABF Pension Fund via mail or by Fax to 1-312-236-0574. There is a minimum 30-day notice required for healthcare insurance cancellations.
