Annuitant Trustee Election

In accordance with the Illinois Pension Code, the term of the trustee who represents the Fund's annuitants will expire on December 1, 2014.  On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, an election will be held to select this representative.

Regulations governing the election are summarized as follows:

Persons eligible to become the annuitant trustee: Any qualified employee annuitant who is receiving an age and service annuity.

Filing of the Nominating Petition: If you are interested in becoming a trustee, you must file a nominating petition with the Fund office.  The petition is available at the LABF office or on the LABF website ( and must be signed by at least ten (10) LABF annuitants.  The petition can be returned to the Fund office by mail but must have a postmark date no later than August 20, 2014.  Forms returned in person or by fax need to be received in the office no later than 4:00 pm on September 2, 2014.  Any petitions entered can be withdrawn anytime before 4:00 pm on September 2, 2014.

Persons entitled to vote:

  • All employee and adult survivor annuitants.

Time and method of voting: The voting will be by mail.  A ballot containing the names of all candidates who timely submit a nominating petition shall be mailed to each eligible annuitant. The ballot must be returned with a postmark date no later than September 30, 2014.  All ballots received by LABF will be counted on October 15, 2014.
